Ottomans, Benches & Hall Trees

Before you start your shopping journey, we’d love to answer some questions you might have about ottomans and benches.
What are benches used for?
Benches have more than one purpose. You can use one as a vanity bench, an end-of-bed bench, storage, or to style your room. A dining bench or living room bench allows you to add a comfortable seating option when space is limited. You can also add a bench to your entryway and elevate your home’s style with a great first impression as your guests walk in.
Are ottomans just for sitting?
An ottoman is a versatile piece of accent furniture. It can provide additional seating, hidden storage, a footrest when placed by your chair, add a finishing touch to any room, or as a coffee table for your cocktails and beverages. Ottoman beds are perfect for when space is limited and you have a friend or family member who’s sleeping over.
Do ottomans have to match the rest of the seating area?
It’s not required for your ottoman to match a sofa or other living room furniture. As long as the style and size of the ottoman aren't clashing with the layout, it will fit nicely in your space.
Should the ottoman be lower than the chair or sofa?
Since you’re probably going to use your new living room ottoman to rest your feet when relaxing, make sure the ottoman’s height at least matches the height of your chair or sofa’s seat.
If the ottoman is too high or too low compared to your other furniture, it may not be too comfortable for your legs. Make sure to measure the chair seat’s height from the floor to the top of the seat first, in order to compare with the ottoman measurements.
Should the bench be the same length as the table?
The width of your dining room bench can be the same as your table or slightly smaller. If you want as much additional seating as possible, go for the dining bench that is the same length as your dining table. If you want to tuck the bench under the table for storage, a small-sized bench is a better option for you.
Should you get a bench or an ottoman?
While ottomans and benches are similar, their purpose might vary with the way you decide to design your home. Our selection will allow you to find the best choice for you, whether it’s a storage ottoman, entryway bench, ottoman coffee table, or bedroom bench.
