In case you didn’t know, it’s National Tequila Day, which is July 24 every year! To celebrate National Tequila Day, we feel like we should at least mention where tequila first started. Tequila is made from a blue agave plant that’s only grown in Mexico. A variety of drinks are made with tequila, whether you’re having a frozen margarita, tequila sunrise, or even just some tequila shots (but please, drink responsibly).
We thought it was a great idea to share with you a simple recipe for a classic lime margarita. You can’t go wrong with a drink like this one.
Classic Lime Margarita
Servings: 1
Ingredients:
1 ounce of simple syrup (store-bought or homemade)
3 ounces tequila
2 ounces of lime juice (freshly squeezed is better)
1 teaspoon of orange liqueur
1 tablespoon of salt or sugar for the rim
Ice
Directions:
Use a cocktail shaker. Fill it with ice, orange liqueur, tequila, simple syrup, and lime juice. Shake it until it’s chilled. Put the salt or sugar (your choice) on a plate and press the rim of a chilled glass into the salt. Then, pour the margarita into the glass and you’re ready to celebrate National Tequila Day!
