With our new El Dorado Furniture showroom opening soon in St. Pete, we thought it was an ideal time to share the best things to do in St. Petersburg, Florida. There’s a variety of things to do, whether you live in the area, plan to move there, or just want to take a vacation.

You can visit their award-winning beaches, hear live music, participate in family friendly activities, and more! I mean, why would you not want to go to a city that’s nicknamed Sunshine City? This is because of the city’s great weather with consecutive days with sunshine, so you’ll love having things to do when the weather’s almost always pleasant.

We’re going to divide the best things to do by category, so it’s easier for you to find what activities you think you and your family will love!

Museums

  1. The Dalí Museum

The Dali museum celebrates the life and work of Salvador Dali, a Spanish artist who focused on surrealism. The building itself is famous for “The Enigma” a collection of glass panes that flow in and out of the main concrete block. And the museum is right by the water in downtown St Petersburg, so you don’t get that stuffy museum feeling that you may have experienced before. The Florida Holocaust Museum is one of the finest and largest Holocaust museums in the country, honoring the millions of innocent victims from the Holocaust through permanent and traveling exhibits.   • Great Explorations Children’s Museum

If you have children, the Great Explorations Children’s Museum is a special place for hands-on learning and creative experiences. There are also special events that allow parents to leave the kids in the museum for babysitting while they enjoy a night out.   • Morean Arts Center

The Morean Arts Center is a destination for art lovers and an essential part of St. Pete’s art scene. Escape the hustle and bustle of city life and dive into a botanical garden paradise at the Sunken Gardens. The gardens are 100 years old and considered to be St. Pete’s oldest living museum. The relaxing atmosphere has waterfalls, amazing greenery, and tropical plants. Plant lovers can enjoy special horticultural programs, garden tours, and field trips. It’s also a great venue for a wedding if you have your heart set on a tropical wedding but want to skip the flight. You won’t regret coming to a place as peaceful as Sunken Gardens.   • Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

You won’t ever get bored when you’re at the Boyd Hill Nature Preserve. It’s a chain of unique ecosystems so you can go hang by the lake, take a walk on the trails or boardwalks, or see pine flatwoods. There are wildlife spotting and bird watching opportunities too.
